The derby is just days away and with the warm temps we just had and the rain people are worried about the ice conditions. I am sure the people running the derby wont hold it if the ice is unsafe but I would check the conditions for yourself. Stay safe and good luck to anyone fishing in the derby. With the warm temps and rain we had a few days ago it has created some unsafe ice conditions. There have been cracks and heaves on many different lakes. Pay attention and use your head when venturing out on the lakes. On Lake Petenwell there was a man who went through the ice and was rescued by strangers. I don’t know this man but from what I hear is is a very avid fisherman and knows his stuff. He was very fortunate that these strangers were able to hear him yelling for help and came to the rescue. Unfortunately while he was being taken care of someone took advantage of him and stole his Ice 55 flasher. Hopefully the culprit will come forward and return this device. It shows you that anything can happen and to be prepared for any situation. Make sure to have what you need to help save your life or someone else in the event of an emergency. Stay safe out there this winter and TL!!!!
