For this years derby we are going to be donating 100% of the proceeds and 50% of the prize raffle proceeds back into the lake. We have been in contact with the local DNR official as to how to make this happen. We will be purchasing fish to stock the lake. We are looking at holding a party for the day we release the fish into the lake!
Hunting has been slow the past couple days but have managed to get 5 so far. Day 1 was real slow. Not many birds flying. We couldn’t get the few birds we saw to even look at our spread or respond to calling. Day 2 was better. Birds were flying all over.. Shooting was tough because the birds were not wanting to land in our spread but we did manage 2. Day 3 was extremely foggy and we could’t see if there were any birds flying at all. When they did come by it seemed as if they were coming from out of nowhere. We managed 3 on this day. We have a couple more days to hunt so we hope we get some new birds in!
Duck hunting is under way here in WI and the cold temps have been pushing ducks our way! I have been hearing shots on Lake Como in the early mornings and been told people have been getting ducks in central WI. The report I got from the Fountain City area is that there is wild rice all over the place and lots of birds in the refuge. Hope everyone has a good season and don’t forget to report right here on Fish Lips Outdors.
